Q?

Do you offer green services?

A.

Not per say. What we offer is smarter, more effective pest control based on science, without unnecessary pesticide use. Statements that many companies make such as “We only use effective products that are all natural”, are often misleading. You can take that to the bank. How do we know? Our urban entomologist focused on and researched essential oils, botanical insecticides, and EPA Exempt products during his tenure as a scientist at the University of Florida. The results that he obtained resulted in us not using many of these “all natural” products in our Jacksonville Pest Programs due to the ineffectiveness to control target pests. You work hard for your money, and we want to give you the best service money can buy. To do that, we promise to use products that work, and apply them according to the product label.

Q?

Do I have to have the interior serviced every time?

A.

Of course not. The products we use are formulated to repel insects and pests from getting into your house. We don’t need to service the inside unless there’s a problem. On the other hand, if you want the inside done every time for good reason, we can make that happen. All you need to do is call us and discuss. We’ll get you squared away in no time.

Q?

Why should I get a maintenance program and not just a one-time?

A.

Maintenance programs are always preferred over one time applications. Here at Bug-Man, we are pretty darn good at killing pests, but we are even better at preventing them from becoming a problem. Also, One Time Applications often cost a great deal more when there is a problem than if you had a quarterly or semi-annual service.

Q?

What can I do on my own as far as pest control?

A.

There are many things that you can do yourself. For example, say you have a German Cockroach problem in Middleburg, FL. German Roaches must have water to survive. Eliminating sources of water can reduce populations and aid in the control results by the professional exterminator. In other words,1) look for different conditions that are conducive for the pest in question. 2) Figure out what they need to survive. 3) Take it away.

Q?

Do you offer wildlife removal?

A.

We offer all kinds of wildlife removal including rodents, bats, squirrels, raccoons, opossums, and more. We are experts in exclusion. Exclusion is a process of using different materials and products to keep unwanted pests from accessing a structure. We’ve performed exclusions on buildings as large as 750,000 square feet.

Q?

Do you also offer moisture control?

A.

We offer many services to deal with moisture, but mostly in attics, crawlspaces and basements. We provide services such as vapor barrier installation and foam installation. We are experts in eradicating attic, crawlspace, and basement mold in Jacksonville. Sometimes, it is even necessary for us to install a french drain around the perimeter of homes and business to keep water out. If you suspect you may have excessive moisture or mold in your Jacksonville attic, crawlspace, or basement, don’t let the name Bug-Man fool you. Call and discuss your issue with our entomologist and you will quickly find out that we offer the most comprehensive moisture control programs in Jacksonville, Florida. Besides, mold in the truest sense is a fungus, wood destroying fungi to be exact. Here at Bug-Man, we know our wood destroying organisms. Don’t be fooled by the dog and pony show that is put on by many mold removal companies. Don’t give in to their scare tactics either. Just call us and discuss what’s going on. We’ll even provide you with references and pictures of previously done jobs and satisfied customers.

Q?

Can you get rid of or exterminate bed bugs in Jacksonville?

A.

Now that’s one of our specialties. Our entomologist probably knows more about bed bugs than any other person around. Not only did he study them at the University of Florida and research products that are available on the market to kill them, but he actually reared them! That means that he had bed bug colonies that he farmed. When you kill bugs for scientific research, other bugs have to take their place. If you want THE expert in Jacksonville bed bug control, call Bug-Man and speak to our urban entomologist. It’s easier than reading his 150 page thesis on bed bug control.

Q?

What forms of payment does your company accept?

A.

We accept cash, checks, and most credit and debit cards.

Q?

Is there anything I need to do to prepare for treatments?

A.

Not usually. If for some reason your situation involves the need to do some type of preparation, we will notify you and go over in detail what should be done.

Q?

How long are your services warrantied?

A.

Typically, any preventive pest maintenance program that we perform for you is completely warrantied. If, at any time prior to a regularly scheduled service call, an infestation of pests covered in your agreement occurs, we will provide the service needed to control these pests at no additional charge. On top of that, if our pest protection service does not achieve the results we promised, we will refund the amount you paid for the unsatisfactory service call. Now that takes confidence.

Q?

What about other pests I need control of in Jacksonville like fleas and mosquitoes?

A.

On top of our long list of pests that we take care of in our standard coverage agreement, there are many pests out there that pop up wither seasonally or periodically. A few examples of some of the other Jacksonville pest infestations that we treat at an additional charge here at Bug-Man are Carpenter Ants, Fire Ants, Clothes Moths, Indoor and Outdoor Tick Control, Indoor and Outdoor Flea Control, Bed Bugs, Mosquitoes, Termites, and Rodents. And that’s just a short list. We can handle any pest problem you have in Clay and Duval County.

Q?

What pests does your general service cover?

A.

Our standard coverage in Jacksonville includes treatment and inspection for all the different types of Roaches, Silverfish, House Ants, Centipedes, Paper Wasps, Earwigs, Millipedes, and House Crickets.

Q?

How much do you charge to spray a house?

A.

Here at Bug-Man Pest Service in Jacksonville, we never come and just "spray a house". Sure we spray insecticides both indoors and outdoors, but we don’t do it blindly. We care enough to investigate your unique situation and treat accordingly. Prices depend on the type of pests you’re dealing with, or whether you’re looking for preventive maintenance. But, we are proud to offer you competitive prices. Just to give you an idea, our quarterly preventive pest control service for houses that are less than 4,000 square feet are anywhere from $68-$90 every 3 months, depending on surrounding conditions, pest pressure, and whether or not you’ve told your neighbors about us!

Q?

How often do you come out?

A.

That depends on many factors such as whether it’s a home or business. For your home, quarterly pest control barrier treatments are most common. There is no need whatsoever to have monthly pest control at your house. Trust us, we have an entomologist 😉 . Products these days are formulated to withstand harsh environmental conditions and leave longer insecticide residuals than the stuff that was available and on the market years ago. We also have many customers that rejoice over our semi-annual treatments. We know how to protect your home from pests year around. You can either tell us what you prefer, or inquire about our recommendation. You can rest assure that we won’t steer you wrong.

Q?

Do you clean off the spider webs and knock down wasps nest?

A.

We sure do. We offer this as a courtesy to our customers that have a quarterly, semi-annual, or once a year service with us. Spiders in Jacksonville are difficult to control compared to many other pests. Webbing spiders pretty much have to be hit directly with arachnicide to eliminate them. One tool we use to minimize this is de-webbing. Scientists have proven that knocking down spider webs reduces the amount of spiders in a given area. They will likely move on over to your neighbor’s house after they catch a glimpse of us.

Q?

Will this hurt my animals?

A.

Absolutely not. We would never put your animals at risk to harmful materials. Period. If a rare or special treatment is warranted for your particular situation or infestation, we will provide you with all the details necessary, to ensure your pets are not harmed in any way.

Q?

Do I have to be in a contract?

A.

Here at Bug-Man, we don’t have any long term contracts except for our Jacksonville termite bonds that can be renewed on an annual basis. Even our termite bonds leave you with the option of renewing or not. Our general pest control service is outlined in a written agreement, not a contract. Our agreement can be cancelled by either party, any time. We just ask for 30 days’ notice. We don’t need to lock you in to a long term commitment to keep your business. Our customers stay with us for decades. Our Jacksonville lawn service program is the same. You can cancel at any time.

Q?

Do you work late?

A.

Sometimes. We have late days and early days. Some of our routes are longer than others. If you work during the day and need to make a late appointment, we’ll bend over backwards to accommodate you.

Q?

Do you work weekends?

A.

We provide some services on the weekends. It really just depends on the area you are located and the type of work needing to be performed. Under special circumstances, weekend services can be requested by the customer.

Q?

What are you hours of operations?

A.

In most circumstances, we have a knowledgeable staff member available to answer any questions you may have right away. We don’t use a call or answering service like our competition. Answering services don’t know beans about pest control and simply can’t help you. Further, many times answering services and call centers lose important messages or mix up significant details. If we aren’t available to take your call, we want to personally and directly hear your message. Many times, if our customer’s leave a message on our office phone, we return the call within an hour or two. Heck, our entomologist doesn’t mind receiving texts day or night. It’s more of a hobby than a job!

Q?

Do I need to leave the home?

A.

Only rare circumstances and just a few types of pests that you might find in Jacksonville such as bed bugs would require you to not be in the home during treatment. Examples of these treatments are mold remediation, bed bug fumigation, and sometimes german cockroach cleanouts if aerosols are needed to flush the roaches out of hiding. Don’t worry, the Bug-Man team loves vacuuming german cockroaches after we flush them out of hiding, leaving you with minimal clean-up and the fastest results in Jacksonville.

Q?

Why should I use you over the other local companies?

A.

When you choose Bug-Man, your partnering up with a company that will use proven scientific methods to get the job done safely, effectively, and fast. We take pride in the fact that we are the only pest control company in Clay and Duval County that has an entomologist that works in the field. Maybe even the only company in all of Florida! No other pest control companies in Jacksonville can compete with our expertise and experience, and we have FACTS to back that statement up.

Q?

Who will you be sending to my house?

A.

We want you to meet the backbone of our company right away. And we want to meet you! Almost always, the first visit, whether it is a free estimate, free inspection, or scheduled service will be from either one of our owners or our urban entomologist. We truly care about protecting your Jacksonville home from pests such as termites, bed bugs, roaches, and ants. That’s why we send you the best in the business the first time.

Q?

Is your stuff safe?

A.

Scientists have formulated chemicals in the last 15 years that are very effective, yet low in toxicity compared to products used many years ago that remained persistent in the environment. It’s very common for the companies that formulate these chemicals to research them for over 10 years before they ever hit the market. These chemical manufacturers are regulated by the EPA and other governmental agencies. Not only that, but these companies can spend millions of dollars per molecule to ensure that these products are not going to negatively impact your family, your pets, and the environment. We take pride in using only EPA approved products, but that’s not all! Our urban entomologist has either personally tested or observed others test the majority of our approved products in the urban entomology lab at the University of Florida. Who else does this? We are confident that we are the only Jacksonville pest control company that can offer you this level of service.

Q?

I have a termite bond with another company. Shouldn’t I use them for my pest control?

A.

There really isn’t much of a correlation between your termite service and your pest service. Unless of course your using Bug-Man! You see, many local companies use termite techs for the termite inspections and pest control techs for the pest service. Here at Bug-Man, we provide you with universal technicians that are fully trained in both the general pest and termite field. This means that during your routine preventive pest service, our staff knows what to look for as far as signs of termite activity. We can also let you know if we see any issues that might invite termites into your home. Oh, and by the way, we aren’t like most of the large Jacksonville termite companies. You will never see us installing stations in your yard, filling them with wood, and charging you for a termite service. That just doesn’t make sense. Couldn’t you place wood around your home and pull it up to look for bugs yourself? Here at Bug-Man, we know termites like no other. In fact, one of our termite technicians has been protecting Jacksonville from termites for over 40 years! Let’s see our competition beat that.
